The First Reunion after 15 years...

by : Sally Faraon (May 2006)

Boisterous, wacky, surreal – these are just some of the words to describe the first Batch ’91 Summer Reunion held last April 30, 2006 at the Brucal Function Hall in San Pablo City.

Everything was all set at exactly 3 pm. The venue was delightfully decorated with artistically designed balloons (courtesy of Ms. Arlyn Alcantara-Fuentes). Jenny Sia and Randolph Liay helped in the registration as our batch mates started arriving one by one and in small groups. Aileen Prodigalidad-Eneria, one of the early birds, busied herself preparing for her hosting job and with the help of Doc Ann Claire Katigbak, prepared some last minute details of the games.

True to Canossian tradition, the program started with an opening prayer led by Papa Dolph Liay. He included a special prayer for our dearly departed batch mates – Cyrus Masa, Maricel Javier and Edsel Embalsado. An impromptu inspirational talk was given by Mike Emlano. As an ice breaker, the game “Trip to Jerusalem: Adult Version” was played. Sarah Guia bested the other contestants by being the fastest to shoot the straw in her partner’s bottle using her mouth. The funniest game was “Paint Me A Portrait” where two groups outdo each other in portraying some real life scenes.Dorinn Laluna-Montero was hilarious when she imitated everybody’s favorite teacher –Ms. Mendres. The contestants for this game did a good acting job – so real and so natural (especially the honeymoon scene!). The most controversial game was the revised version of Suck & Blow (a.k.a. Calling card game). It’s so controversial that some contestants requested that we don’t release the photos from this game.

One of the most memorable moments of the reunion was when everyone got a chance to share something about themselves. Atty. Ryan Abrenica gamely facilitated the sharing. It was fascinating to listen to the stories and learn how much “grownup” we have become.
This event will not be complete without sumptuous meals, drinks and videoke singing. These were all enjoyed by everyone as they mingled and chatted with old friends whom they haven’t seen for 15 years.
Planning for the December Grand Reunion was squeezed in, where everyone willingly shared their ideas.Several committees were formed to spearhead the challenging task of organizing the Grand Reunion.
Let’s hope and work for the Grandest Reunion in December!
